Jonathan, in need of more buckets, walks over to offer encouragement up to his parents. He wanted them to hurry, but not too fast, as he was exhausted, and would be carrying the heavy buckets down to the creek himself, only to sluice them himself!

  • No, Jonathan didn't wet his pants... in fact, it looks like everything else is wet instead! The water made him so cold that his muscles went through some serious involuntary twitching!
  • Mom dumps yet another bucket into the sluice box, as Jonathan ponders why he can't feel anything below his waist. <br /> <br /> The way the sluice box is designed, the gold stays in it, so there's no need to clean it out until the end of the day.
  • After trying for about five minutes, Jonathan was finally able to stand up. He was involved in virtually all the sluicing, and did most of the final buckets by himself. Eventually, Hilliary had the brilliant idea of giving him a bucket to sit on in the water, thus saving his back, his knees, and other precious things.
  • A great perspective of the site: On the far right is the flowing creek, in the center is the hole we were digging, and to the far left is the bank leading up to the roadway.
